More than 17 million plastic surgeries are performed every year, and about 7.4 million of those are performed on the face or head.1 While these invasive, costly procedures have their place, a lot of people do realize that there are alternatives to looking and feeling younger.

When it comes to achieving youthful, radiant skin without surgery or synthetic fillers, few treatments match the natural power of PRP facials and microneedling. At The Longevity Centers, we are proud to offer this cutting-edge aesthetic procedure that can help harness your body’s own healing capabilities to rejuvenate your complexion from within.

PRP Facials with Microneedling GVL

Understanding PRP Facials

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been used in medical settings since 1954. It refers to concentrated platelets derived from blood, which contain anti-inflammatory and growth-promoting factors.2

Your blood contains three main components: red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. When we isolate and concentrate platelets by centrifugation, we create a powerful serum with growth factor levels much higher than those in whole blood.

These growth factors include:

  • Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF), which helps stimulate cell replication and growth
  • Transforming Growth Factor-Beta (TGF-β), which can help promote collagen synthesis
  • Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), which helps encourage blood vessel formation
  • Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), which can help accelerate cellular regeneration

When combined with microneedling, the results can become even more dramatic and long-lasting. When applied to skin that has been treated with microneedling, these growth factors help penetrate deeply through the microchannels, reaching layers of skin that topical products simply cannot access. This deep penetration is what sets this combined treatment apart from traditional facials or standalone procedures.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive aesthetic procedure used to help stimulate the body’s healing processes. How does microneedling work? It uses a specialized device equipped with fine needles to create thousands of controlled micro-injuries in the skin’s surface.

These tiny punctures can trigger your body’s natural wound-healing response, helping stimulate the production of collagen and elastin—the essential proteins responsible for keeping skin firm, smooth, and youthful.3

Microneedling has the potential to help improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of scars and wrinkles, and enhance overall skin quality. When you add PRP into the equation, you are essentially supercharging the treatment with your body’s own regenerative growth factors.

The Treatment Process: What to Expect

At The Longevity Centers, PRP facial with microneedling follows a carefully designed protocol to ensure optimal results and patient comfort:

Step 1: Blood Collection

The process begins with a simple blood draw, similar to routine laboratory work. We typically collect just 10 to 20 milliliters of blood—about one to two tablespoons. This small amount is more than sufficient to produce the concentrated PRP needed for your treatment.

Step 2: PRP Preparation

Your blood is placed in a specialized centrifuge that spins at high speed, separating the components by density. This process, which takes approximately 15 minutes, isolates the platelet-rich plasma from the red and white blood cells. The result is a golden-colored serum concentrated with healing platelets and growth factors.

Step 3: Microneedling Application

Before the microneedling begins, we apply a topical numbing cream to help ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. Once the area is adequately numbed, our trained professionals use an advanced microneedling device to help create thousands of microscopic channels in your skin. The depth of penetration is carefully calibrated based on your skin type and treatment goals.

Step 4: PRP Application

Immediately following microneedling, we apply your freshly prepared PRP directly to the treated area. The microchannels created by the needles act as express pathways, allowing the growth factors to penetrate deeply into the dermis where they can work their regenerative magic. Some practitioners also use a PRP injection technique for targeted areas requiring more intensive treatment.

Step 5: Recovery and Renewal

In the hours and days following your treatment, your skin begins its remarkable healing and regeneration process. The growth factors stimulate fibroblasts—cells that help contribute to the formation of connective tissue and are responsible for helping produce collagen and elastin—while assisting in promoting increased blood flow and cellular turnover.4

The Benefits of Microneedling with PRP

The benefits of microneedling are well-documented, but when combined with PRP, patients often experience enhanced and accelerated results. Here are some of the common outcomes patients report seeing:

  • Reduction of Fine Lines and Wrinkles – As collagen production increases, the skin naturally plumps from within, helping smooth out expression lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles.
  • Improved Skin Tone and Brightness – The regenerative process can help fade hyperpigmentation, sun spots, and uneven coloration, revealing a more luminous complexion.
  • Smoother Texture and Minimized Pores – The resurfacing effect of microneedling combined with PRP’s healing properties can help create noticeably smoother skin with refined pore appearance.
  • Enhanced Firmness and Elasticity – Increased collagen and elastin production can help restore the skin’s structural integrity, resulting in a firmer, more lifted appearance.
  • Natural, Healthy Radiance – Improved circulation and cellular renewal can help give skin a healthy glow that comes from true rejuvenation (as opposed to temporary surface treatments).
  • Versatile Application – While primarily used for facial rejuvenation, similar techniques are used for PRP hair treatment, helping address hair thinning and promoting follicle health.

Ideal Candidates for PRP Microneedling

This versatile treatment suits a wide range of patients seeking skin rejuvenation. You might be an ideal candidate if you:

  • Notice early signs of aging, such as fine lines or loss of elasticity
  • Want to address uneven skin tone, sun damage, or mild hyperpigmentation
  • Have concerns about enlarged pores or rough texture
  • Prefer natural treatments over synthetic fillers or more invasive procedures
  • Are looking for preventative care to maintain youthful skin
  • Want long-term collagen stimulation rather than temporary fixes

Patients interested in comprehensive rejuvenation often combine PRP facials and microneedling with other treatments available at The Longevity Centers for a holistic approach to age management.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many PRP facial treatments will I need to see results?

Most patients achieve optimal results with a series of three to four treatments, spaced about one month apart. However, many have reported noticing improvements in skin texture and radiance after just one session. At some point, you would shift to maintenance treatments every 6 months to a year, to help sustain your results. Note that the benefits of microneedling with PRP are cumulative, with continued improvement visible for months as collagen production increases.

Is there any downtime after a PRP facial with microneedling?

Downtime is minimal with this treatment. You can expect mild redness and slight swelling for 24 to 48 hours, similar to a moderate sunburn. Most patients return to normal activities the next day. We do recommend avoiding sun exposure, heavy exercise, and harsh skincare products for a few days post-treatment to support optimal healing.

Does microneedling work for acne scars?

Yes, microneedling can be highly effective at improving the appearance of acne scarring. The controlled micro-injuries break down old scar tissue while stimulating new collagen formation, which helps fill in depressed scars and smooth the skin’s surface. When combined with PRP, the growth factors further accelerate the remodeling process for even better results.

Can PRP treatments be used for concerns other than facial skin?

Absolutely. While PRP facials focus on facial rejuvenation, PRP therapy has diverse applications. PRP hair treatment is increasingly popular for addressing hair thinning and promoting hair regrowth. PRP injection techniques are also used in orthopedics for joint and tendon healing, demonstrating the versatility of this regenerative approach.
